2026: A Year of Restoration and Renewal
"Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?"
— Psalm 85:6
In 2026, Miller Chapel embarks on a year-long journey of revival and restoration. Inspired by the story of King Josiah's revival in 2 Kings 22-23, we believe God is calling us back—not to what was, but to what can be.
When young King Josiah ascended the throne, the temple was in disrepair and God's Word had been lost. But through intentional work of restoration, the Book of the Law was rediscovered, and an entire nation turned back to God.
This is the revival we seek: repairing what is broken, rediscovering God's truth, responding with renewed commitment, and experiencing divine restoration.
Our year unfolds through four intentional movements, each building on the last as we journey toward revival.
Q1 · January - March
Restoring What Has Been Broken
Just as Josiah began by repairing the temple, we begin by examining what needs restoration in our lives, our relationships, and our church. This is a season of honest assessment and intentional rebuilding.
Key Scripture: 2 Kings 22:3-7
Q2 · April - June
Rediscovering God's Word and Purpose
During temple repairs, the Book of the Law was discovered—God's Word had been lost and forgotten. In this season, we commit to rediscovering Scripture, hearing God's voice afresh, and allowing truth to expose what we've neglected.
Key Scripture: 2 Kings 22:8-13
Q3 · July - September
Committing Anew to Covenant Faithfulness
When Josiah heard God's Word, he tore his robes and led the people in covenant renewal. True revival requires response—turning from old ways and recommitting to faithfulness. This is a season of decision and dedication.
Key Scripture: 2 Kings 23:1-3
Q4 · October - December
Experiencing God's Transforming Power
The revival under Josiah transformed an entire nation—idols were removed, true worship was restored, and Passover was celebrated like never before. We end the year expecting restoration: in our hearts, our homes, our church, and our community.
Key Scripture: 2 Kings 23:21-25
Josiah became king of Judah at just eight years old. He inherited a kingdom that had strayed far from God—the temple was neglected, idol worship was rampant, and the Book of the Law had literally been lost and forgotten.
At age 26, Josiah ordered repairs to the temple. During the restoration work, the high priest Hilkiah discovered the Book of the Law hidden in the temple. When Josiah heard the words of Scripture—words his nation had forgotten—he tore his robes in grief and repentance.
But Josiah didn't stop at grief. He gathered all the people, read the Book of the Law aloud, and led the nation in renewing their covenant with God. He removed the idols, restored true worship, and celebrated Passover as it hadn't been celebrated since the days of the judges.
Scripture says of Josiah: "Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength." (2 Kings 23:25)
